Sutherland: Statement in response to White House Press Conference

PULLMAN — Washington 5th Congressional District Candidate Matthew J. Sutherland released the following statement regarding the August 15th White House Press Conference.

"I am absolutely appalled at our administration's attempts to morally equivocate White Supremacists and literal Neo-Nazis with those that oppose their hateful, bigoted assault on our American values. Words cannot adequately convey my disbelief in watching these statements be made by the President of the United States, and the utter lack of leadership shown by the White House. Heather Heyer's death was the result of a domestic terrorist attack against American citizens on American soil. I am dismayed that while Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers has commented on the events of #Charlottesville, and attempted to distance herself from White Supremacist and former WSU College Republicans President James Allsup, she has yet to condemn Trump's intentional ambiguity in his response and his leadership as our President."
